Indroduction

The River Water Quality Work Group is part of the Laboratory of Marine and Terrestrial Animal Diversity  (http://www.bio.auth.gr/content/ergastirio-zoologias) supervised by Em. Professor Mrs. Maria Lazaridou (Emeritus since 2016). The laboratory is located on the 6th floor of Biology building (AUTH) at the office 606.

The laboratory is activated in the field of monitoring and management in river water systems in the light of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) 2000/60 / EC.

From the scientific subjects of the laboratory, sampling (e), analysis & identification of benthic macroinvertebrates (f) and ecological quality assessment (g) are done according to the accreditation certificate ELOT ΕΝ ISO/IEC 17025:2017.

Lately, the lab started working with zoobenthos of lakes (http://fishlab.bio.auth.gr/).

The main subject of the laboratory working group deals with:

a) Typology and Reference conditions (the exact characterization of reference conditions in river systems),

b) Impress Analysis of human activities ,

c) Hydromorphology,

d) Physical-chemical parameters,

e) Sampling Benthic Macroinvertebrates (internal method based on ISO 10870:2012 and ISO 16150:2012),

f) Analysis and Classification of Benthic macroinvertebrates (internal method based on ISO 8689_01:2000 and ISO 14996:2006) and

g) Ecological Quality (internal method based on ISO 8689_01:2000 and ISO 14996:2006).
